Information we collect

Daldal Tools has no accounts. Most tools process the text and files you give them inside your browser: nothing is transmitted to a server and nothing is stored. No tool uploads a file to a server.

The exception is the lookup tools — the SSL certificate check, the DNS lookup and the WHOIS lookup — where the server has to make the connection on your behalf, so the domain name you type is sent to it. That name is used for the lookup and is not stored separately, but it does appear in the web server log for 30 days, as described under Server logs below.

The only time we receive personal data is when you send us a message. Anonymous usage counts and advertising and analytics cookies are described separately below.

Advertising and cookies

This site shows advertising through Google AdSense. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, no advertising or analytics cookies are used and only non-personalised ads are shown until you consent. Elsewhere these cookies are on by default, and you can turn personalised advertising off at any time as described below.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. Google explains its use of advertising cookies in its advertising and privacy policies.

Server logs

To operate the service and diagnose faults, the web server records the time of each request, the path requested, the browser type, and the IP address the request came from. These records are used only to trace faults and to stop abnormal floods of requests, and they are deleted automatically after 30 days. They are not used for advertising or analytics, and are not combined with other data to identify individuals.

Information collected when you contact us

When you send a message through the contact form, we store your email address, the subject, the message, and the address of the page you sent it from. We do not store your IP address.

Your email address is used only to reply to you. It is not used for any other purpose and is not shared with third parties. The message and email address are deleted one year after we answer. To have them deleted sooner, ask at the address below.

Usage figures

To see which tools get used, each page sends one tool name to the server when it opens. The server only increments a per-tool counter. It stores no visit records and no IP addresses. These totals are shown publicly on the home page.

Separately, Google Analytics 4 is used to understand traffic sources and usage flows. It sets cookies and sends the collected information to Google. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, declining analytics in the consent dialog means no analytics cookies are used.
