Paste the old JSON on the left and the new one on the right. The result lists every difference as a path, so you can jump straight to the key that moved.

Key order and whitespace are not differences. A plain text comparison marks two identical objects as completely different when a serialiser reorders the keys, which is exactly the case this tool exists for.

Each difference is one of three kinds: a key that only exists on the right was added, a key that only exists on the left was removed, and a key present on both with a different value was changed.

Arrays are compared by position. Element zero is compared with element zero, and a longer array reports its extra elements as added. An item inserted at the front therefore shifts everything after it — worth knowing before reading a long list of changes.

A missing key and a key set to null are reported differently, because an API that drops a field and an API that returns null for it are not doing the same thing.

Paths use the familiar $.a.b[0] form, and keys that cannot be written with a dot are quoted in brackets.

Nothing you paste is sent to a server. Everything is compared inside your browser.
