A photo from a phone often arrives lying on its side. The camera stored the orientation as an EXIF tag rather than turning the pixels, and plenty of programs still ignore that tag. Turning it once and saving fixes it everywhere.

The rotate and flip buttons stack, and the preview updates as you go. Nothing is written until you save, so you can try combinations freely.

Flips are applied before the rotation. Done the other way round, the left-right button appears to flip top-to-bottom once the image is turned 90 degrees, which is confusing rather than clever.

The whole transform is drawn in one pass rather than rotated and then flipped. Going through a canvas twice resamples the image twice, and the edges get softer for no reason.

Quarter turns and mirroring are the only operations offered, because they move pixels to exact positions. An arbitrary angle has to invent the pixels in between and leaves the edges blurred.

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. JPEG and WebP compress the image again, so a photo saved repeatedly through this or any other tool loses a little each time.

Your image is never uploaded. It is drawn inside your browser.
