Paste a TOML file and the JSON appears as you type, or switch direction to go the other way. Cargo.toml, pyproject.toml and netlify.toml all read fine, including nested tables and arrays of tables.

The direction is guessed from what you paste. Text starting with a brace is treated as JSON, but a bracket is ambiguous because a TOML file often starts with a section header, so in that case the text is actually tried as JSON before deciding.

TOML has no null. When JSON containing null is converted, those keys simply disappear from the output, so the tool lists exactly which ones were dropped. A silently missing line in a config file is the kind of thing you discover much later.

TOML also requires the top level to be a table. A bare array or number has nowhere to go, so the tool says so instead of producing an empty file.

Dates in TOML are a real type and become ISO strings in JSON, since JSON has no date type. Converting back turns them into TOML dates again.

Sorting keys is optional and applies recursively, but it never reorders arrays. The order of an array of tables often carries meaning, and shuffling it would change how the configuration behaves.
