How to use
Free to use with no sign-up, no install and no usage limit.
Drop in several files and they are packed into a single zip, or drop in a zip and its contents are listed so you can take out one file without extracting everything. It runs in the browser, which matters on a work machine where installing an archiver is not an option.
Files picked from different folders often share a name. Packing them as they are would let the second one overwrite the first inside the archive, so duplicates get a number appended and you are told which ones were renamed.
The compression level is worth changing. Documents and text shrink a great deal; photos, video and anything already compressed barely move, and level zero simply stores them, which is much faster for a large bundle of images.
When you open a zip, paths that try to escape the archive are flagged. An entry named something like ../../etc/passwd is a long-standing trick against tools that trust the path when extracting. Nothing is written to your disk here, but a path that odd is worth knowing about before you extract it elsewhere.
Extracted files are offered one at a time under a flattened name, because folder separators in a download name behave differently in every browser.
Nothing is uploaded, so the size limit is your own memory rather than an upload quota.
