How to use

Free to use with no sign-up, no install and no usage limit.

Drop in a JPEG and everything recorded inside it appears: the date, the camera and lens, the exposure settings, and the GPS coordinates if the camera saved them.

Phones record where a photo was taken by default. Posting a picture of something for sale, or of a pet in the garden, can hand over a home address to anyone who knows how to open the file — and this happens often enough to be worth checking before posting.

Shutter speed is shown as a fraction rather than a decimal, because 1/250 s is what a photographer reads and 0.004 s is not.

A companion to the EXIF remover: look first, strip afterwards. This tool only reads, so the file you dropped in is never modified.

Only JPEG is read. PNG and WebP can carry metadata too, but it is stored differently and far less often filled in by cameras.

Your photo is never uploaded. The file is read inside your browser.
