Type a product code, pick a symbology and the barcode is drawn straight away. Everything happens in the browser, which matters because a product code is commercial information and most barcode sites send it to their server.
For the numeric symbologies you can leave the check digit off and it is calculated for you. If you include it and it does not match, you are told rather than quietly corrected: one digit different is a different product, and a silently fixed code ends up on a printed label.
The check digit is the single most common reason a barcode scans but is rejected. Every EAN and UPC code carries one, computed by weighting the digits alternately by three and one, and a code assembled by hand almost never has it right.
Bar width is the setting to reach for when a printed code will not scan. Thin bars survive on a laser printer and disappear on a thermal label printer, and an inexpensive handheld scanner needs more width than a supermarket one.
CODE128 accepts any ASCII text, which makes it the usual choice for internal labels. CODE39 is older and takes only capitals, digits and a handful of symbols, so lowercase input is raised to capitals rather than refused.
The result downloads as a PNG at the size shown, ready to place in a label template.
